USA VW announces December and year end figures not a good result

Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported 407,704 units delivered in 2013. December deliveries totaled 34,015.
Volkswagen’s high-mileage,TDI® Clean Diesel modelstotaled 95,823 units for the year accounting for 23.5 percent of sales in 2013 and 17.8 percent in December. Since 2,000, Volkswagen of America has delivered over 500,000 TDI® Clean Diesel vehicles.
“Volkswagen is now operating at a new plateau, delivering over 400,000 units for the second consecutive year in over 40 years,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “We look forward to 2014, with the introduction of the new Golf family, continued increased awareness and enthusiasm for the brand’s core models and the strength of our TDI offerings, we are well positioned for our next phase of growth to come over the next few years.”
The Chattanooga-built Volkswagen Passat continues to demonstrate its strong appeal in the market with 9,254 units sold in December and 109,652 for the year. Clean Diesel TDI Passat sales were the best year on record with 34,963 vehicles delivered, accounting for 32 percent of sales of the year.

2014 Hyundai Verna Launch Soon

As has been suspected for a long while, BMW and the new Carbon Motors announced an agreement today that will supply Carbon’s upcoming police cruiser with BMW’s fantastic 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine. What was somewhat of a surprise was the agreed-upon volume: 240,000 engines—ready to install, complete with six-speed automatic transmissions. Considering that the police market accounts for about 60,000 vehicles annually and that Carbon is an unknown, that supply ought to last the company some time.
Carbon Motors was formed in 2003 with the intent to provide a purpose-built police cruiser to compete with other cop cars built from existing civilian vehicles and saddled with the accompanying compromises. Last year, the company took up residence in a vacated Visteon factory in Connersville, Indiana, and announced plans to spend $350 million updating the 1.8-million square-foot space for its purposes. Carbon’s car is known as the E7 for now, although the company calls that an internal code name and will reveal a more intimidating moniker closer to production, which it says will begin in 2012.

Audi A3 to be priced below RS 25 lakhs and launch in 2014
A3 sedan is the most important product launch for Audi in India. Success of the A3 sedan will secure the number one position for Audi. Globally Audi unveiled the A3 sedan couple of months back. European production has just began only. A3 sedan is based on the A3 hatchback. India will get the A3 sport back later in 2014 as Audi thinks that the Indian market is still not matured to accept luxury hatch backs.
Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India spoke to Car & Bike show editor siddharth Vinayak patankar about the plans of the A3 sedan and the pricing. This year Audi is concentrating on the cut price Q3 which will hit our market pretty soon with an Ex-showroom price of RS 24-25 lakhs. Audi will launch the A3 sedan next year in India. Micheal Persckhe said that the A3 sedan will be priced below RS 25 lakhs. Audi will bring the Diesel and petrol variants to India. Audi A3 sedan will compete with the likes of Mercedes CLA, A class and BMW 1 series.
