Introduction
Going go to go with the best sport cars is no small challenge. Yet thats the goal for the 2013 Buick Regal. This midsize sedans performance doesnt hit its mark, yet the Regal does have some excellent features that get your attention.
The story of the Regal really moves around its google. The Regal starts out with a 2.4-liter engine supported up by a light multiple program ("eAssist"), which has become familiar as a simple stop-start program for the engine. This increases town gas mileage to a useful 25 mpg, while the 36 mpg obtained by this engine in road method makes the Regal superior to every other midsize automobile, though the speeding definitely doesnt do anything for the vehicles character.
The midgrade 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is a phase up and still provides excellent gas mileage, yet the speeding is still underwhelming. Chevrolet Captiva facelift now on sale
Facelifted Chevrolet Captiva comes with minor styling updates front and rear, interior updates, new six-speed manual transmission and features.
Chevrolet had launched the facelifted Captiva in the Korean market early this year and showcased it at the Geneva motor show as well. Now, it has introduced the facelifted car here but without any ceremony.
In terms of features, the facelifted car comes with black interiors as opposed to the lighter shade seen in the earlier Captiva, standard sunroff on the LTZ variant, rear parking sensors, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, stereo with eight speakers, automatic level ride suspension, six airbags, ABS with EBD and descent control system, among other things.
Mechanicals see the 2.2-litre diesel motor – showcased at the Auto Expo 2012 and previously available only with automatic transmission – now also available with a new six-speed manual transmission. While the manual transmission equipped version is a two-wheel-drive, the automatic version drives all wheels. The 2.2-litre is good for 184bhp and 43.24kgm. The 2.0-litre diesel engine has been discontinued.

2011 Suzuki GSR750 Specifications
The emergence of more sophisticated naked bikes from Japan indicates an appreciation for this growing market (particularly, in Europe). Suzuki officially unveiled earlier today the GSR750 naked shown here and in the video below. We don’t have any details on this bike beyond what you see below from Suzuki. We do think the bike looks cool, and hope it becomes available in the U.S. market.
ENGINE: liquid-cooled, four-cylinder DOHC four-stroke with a bore and stroke of 72 mm x 46 mm and four valves per cylinder. The valves are set at a very narrow included angle, allowing the combustion chamber to be very compact, with the intake valves each measuring 27.2 mm in diameter and the exhaust valves measuring 22 mm in diameter. The compression ratio is 12.3:1, with lightweight cast aluminum-alloy pistons. Those details improve combustion efficiency, and more complete combustion is the key to better low-rpm and mid-range response, acceleration and fuel mileage, as well as reduced emissions. The engine powers an integrated close-ratio six-speed transmission.
CHASSIS: A unique chassis incorporates the best qualities of a compact tubular girder streetbike frame and a twin-spar sportbike frame, and is built using a combination of D-section and round-section steel tubes for an especially smooth ride. Wheelbase is 1,450 mm with 25°15′ of rake and 102 mm of trail, again contributing to a comfortable ride.

Debunking Real Estate Myths – Part 1 House Price Indexes
Real estate bubble, sub-prime mortgages, securitized products and their derivatives were largely responsible for the ultimate collapse, leading us the the economic conditions of today. Policy makers and investors alike were, and still are, basing their actions on a false set of commonly accepted myths.
The first example is provided by the many different House Price Indexes. Borrowing a table from my cyber-friend Calculated Risk, here are the most recent changes in the indexes put together by various different sources:
House price increases according to a variety of sourcesDepending on who one prefers to believe, house prices have appreciated between 5.2% to 13.2% year over year. Case-Shiller is probably the most commonly referenced index today. Their fancy model with a nice interactive chart can be found on the S&P/Case Shiller website. Those who want to engage in a bit of intellectual exercise can read the 48 page explanation of the Case Shiller methodology. A much better read however, is this simple one page overview by FNC that debunks all the house price indexes, including their own. I would like to add that no index takes into account the prevailing interest rate and lending practices, and no-one has figured out a method to make appropriate adjustments. For example, how does one compare a house that sold for $100,000 in 2005 utilizing sub-prime financing, vs. the same house that sold for $70,000 cash in 2013, with a few foreclosures and flips in between? Was $100,000 a meaningful indication of value? Did it really depreciate by 30% in 8 years? Here is the well-known Case-Shiller chart:

Everyone is somewhat familiar with the chart. About the only conclusion I can draw is that easy monetary policy and irresponsible lending practices may lead to a bubble, and bubbles do always burst. It has no predictive value nor does it really tell one much about the past. Gurus may compare todays prices to the sub-prime peak or some imaginary "norm", as if that could offer guidance to policy and investment decisions.
Looking at the Case-Shiller 20 cities composite index simply makes no sense.
The 20 cities disaggregatedThese twenty cities all have different demographics that change independently from one another over time. What would be the purpose of contemplating these peaks and troughs, especially when combined in an index?
It is baffling that the FOMC supposedly looks at data such as the various House Price Indexes and somehow decides on that basis that buying agency MBS is a good policy. They even figured out that $600 billion was the right amount for QE1 in 2008, and an additional $600 billion was appropriate for QE2 in 2010. Of course with QE3, the Fed determined that $40 billion per month was good for 2013, but $35 billion is better for 2014.
The wisdom of the Fed escapes me at the moment. Maybe it has other, unrelated objectives in mind. Stay tuned for Debunking Real Estate Myths – Part 2: Overly Stringent Underwriting.
